Chevy's 2021 Silverado 1500 full-size light-duty pickup is getting some exciting upgrades for the new model year. A new tailgate option, updated standard technology features, and an improved camera for towing are just some of the perks you can expect from the 2021 Silverado 1500. Here's what this new model has to offer.

Trim Levels

The configurations available for the 2021 Silverado 1500 are almost endless with a variety of cab and bed sizes. The base trim option is the WT, and it comes standard with 17-inch ultra silver painted steel wheels, black door handles and other black exterior accents, and a rear bumper corner step. Upgrade to the Custom trim for 20-inch bright silver aluminum wheels, LED cargo bed lighting, heated side mirrors, LED taillights, and an EX Lift power-locking tailgate. The Custom Trail Boss adds red recovery hooks and a Z71 suspension with a 2-inch factory lift. Get some extra style with the LT trim and its chrome bumpers and LED reflector headlights. The LT Trail Boss features off-road-ready specs, while the RST trim includes LED fog lights, and painted mirror caps. Opt for the LTZ trim and enjoy 20-inch wheels with a polished finish, heated power-folding side mirrors with an auto-dimming feature, and a power tailgate. Lastly, the High Country features 6-inch chrome wheel to wheel assist steps, chrome recovery hooks, and high-intensity LED headlights.

Engine

A standard V-6 engine with 285 horsepower and a six-speed automatic transmission comes standard with the base Silverado 1500 trims. Upgrade to a 310-horsepower 2.7-liter with active fuel management for more power and an eight-speed transmission. Upper trims come with a 5.3-liter V-8 with active or dynamic fuel management and 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Get a maximum 13,300-pound towing capacity with a 6.2-liter V-8 and a 10-speed automatic transmission. If you want some impressive fuel efficiency, choose the available Duramax 3.0-liter turbo-diesel.

Performance

Drivers who need a truck that can handle some serious towing jobs need look no further than the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500. Upgraded towing camera technologies offer up to 15 different towing views. An in-vehicle trailering app lets you manage your haul from the touch screen in the dash. Other towing technology includes an electric parking brake hook-up assist, trailer theft alerts, hill start assist, trailer sway control, and auto grade braking.

Interior
