Trim Levels
With its dynamic styling, athletic profile, and stylish rear end, the 2021 Chevy Equinox stands out every time you head out on the road. It's available in L, LS, LT, and Premier trim levels. Going with the L or LS trim gets you signature LED daytime running lights, black heated power mirrors, color-keyed door handles, 17-inch aluminum wheels, and keyless entry.
The LT model features bright trim and body accents, high-intensity discharge headlamps, color-keyed mirrors, and rear privacy glass. Step up to the Premier for LED headlamps, fog lamps, 18-inch wheels, LED taillights, and a convenient hands-free power tailgate. It also adds elegant features such as chrome-accented door handles, chrome roof rails, and chrome-capped auto-dimming mirrors with turn signals.
Engine
Power for the Equinox comes from a 170-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 203 pound-feet of torque. It's matched with a slick-shifting electronically controlled six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and driver shift control.
Performance
With its punchy engine and agile handling, the Equinox offers fun-to-drive performance, whether you're zipping around town, tackling the twisty back roads, or cruising on the freeway. Stop/start technology helps to achieve up to 26 mpg for city driving, and you'll get up to 31 mpg on the highway.
While front-wheel drive is standard, all but the base trim have the option of switchable all-wheel drive (AWD). For optimum traction in slippery conditions, switch to AWD. On normal dry roads, switch back to front-wheel drive for improved fuel efficiency.
Interior
The Equinox's contemporary and sophisticated cabin features roomy seating for five, along with 29.9 cubic feet of space for all your gear. The 60/40-split rear seats fold flat to give you a generous 63.9 cubic feet of cargo space. You can stow small or valuable items in the clever underfloor compartment.
L-trimmed models feature push-button start, upscale fabric seating, air conditioning, a tilt and telescoping steering column, cruise control, and two 12-volt power outlets. The standard Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system has a Wi-Fi hot spot, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, Bluetooth with voice command, USB data and charging ports, and a six-speaker sound system. You can access the features via the 7-inch touch screen.
The LT trim gives you a power-adjustable driver's seat, rear seat release levers, and satellite radio. The range-topping Premier trim adds luxury touches like ambient lighting, perforated leather seating, heated front seats, driver memory functions, a leather-bound steering wheel, and two-zone automatic climate control. You also get remote start, a 120-volt power outlet, an 8-inch HD touch screen, an SD card reader, and wireless charging.
Safety
The Equinox features Chevy Safety Assist, which includes forward-collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, pedestrian detection, a following distance indicator, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Premier models add an auto-dimming rearview mirror, rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic warning, lane change warning, and side blind-zone warning.
